I can’t understand why this place has such low ratings. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Monterey/Carmel/Pacific grove area. We stayed for two nights in one of the cottages and it was the perfect location for our trip. Close to both Monterey and Carmel, and a short walk down to the water. The cottage room was very clean and large, with a nice fireplace. The staff in the lobby were friendly and check in was easy. And lastly the hot breakfast included with our stay was delicious and convenient. The staff in the dining room were extremely nice as well. I recommend ignoring the poor reviews and giving this hotel a try!! 10/10 experience

We recently stayed here for a family reunion, booking 13 rooms, as well as the Brigatine Room (conference room). It accommodated our group really nicely. The staff was very responsive when various concerns came up. Several family members enjoyed the pool (nicely warm) and hot tub. Location was so quiet and peaceful, with only a short walk to the tidepools in Pacific Grove. Rooms were very clean and linens were crisp. Only suggestion would be better better maintenance, which showed in the door screens, and bathroom and vanity areas of the rooms. We would definitely stay again! Thank you, Lighthouse Lodge, for helping make our reunion a great experience!

I will probably update this review to add more 5 star pictures over the rest of my stay but I really don't understand the bad reviews at all. Our room has hard floors, no carpet (yes!!), microwave, fridge, lots of lovely details, comfy wonderful bed, lots of mirrors and areas to get dressed, a patio with chairs to enjoy coffee watching the deer in the cemetery. It's my absolute favorite among the Pacific Grove and Monterey hotels--quiet, a block from the ocean, with practically resident deer! No traffic or weird neighbors, it's amazing. We've stayed in the cottages as well as the lodge and both times we felt the room, fireplace, amenities, whirlpool tub, etc--depending on the room--were awesome. The fire pits are so romantic at night! There is fog rolling over the treetop and the lighthouse blinking like a movie set. Deer! Birds! Tidepools a block away. In the morning, darkening blinds to sleep in or get up and have coffee on your patio with deer. I really don't understand the negative reviews at all. Do people prefer... views of parking lots, roads, or random peoples yards... or the back of convenience stations--to charming beautiful old cemetery with deer 10 feet from your window? Or paying 300$ for motel 6 type rooms (Asilomar, which we loved despite the spartan rooms)? Literally no hotel looks exactly like the pictures-- not the SF Union Square Westin, not the Fairmont--hotels cant repaint everything for every stay. Folks were working so hard here and provided lovely service. The family running this place and staff, from phone booking to front desk to restaurant, have all been amazing to us on every occasion. Photos of deer taken from outside room, Room, cute bagged to go breakfast, and wildlife seen a block from hotel. Pool is WARM and hot tub was fantastic.

I understand the low rating came from the existence of a nearby cemetery, but during our stay it was way better than our expectations… from front office friendliness to room quality…. The hotel owner should probably consider building taller trees to block the view…

my boyfriend and i came here for the weekend and we had booked the king room. the tv had stopped working so we called the front desk and CJ answered. she was wonderful! she went ahead and comped us and moved us into a different room which was clean and beautiful. the staff was very nice and accommodating. the view cemetery was beautiful and very peaceful. we will be back soon!

Good value and comfortable. My two children and I stayed in a junior cottage. It wasn’t a recently renovated one but still clean and well maintained. Only complaint was that the pull out bed was very uncomfortable and the roll away that the staff brought after I mentioned this was just as bad. The 80 lb younger kid was able to sleep comfortably on the un-pilled out couch so it still worked for us.
